Latest news - World War I Garden Project

The design will be based around 27 ceramic poppies from the Tower of London Remembers art installation in memory of the 27 names on the Wellesbourne Roll of Honour. We have been able to raise enough money to buy 30 of these poppies and would like to thank the following for their kind donations;-  Mr.Platt Wellesbourne Market who has donated enough money to buy 20 and the remaining 10 have been bought from donations made by the following:Chedham's Yard. Marion and David Johnston. Duncan Stringer- Pet and Garden Centre. Iris Herwin. Russell- Avonvale Vets. Peter Clarke -Estate Agents. Colin Locke- Funeral Directors. Keith Russell- Butcher.  Peggy & Charlie Gilbert. David Close.

We will  have a planted raised bed simulating a Trench. Moreton Morrell College have joined us for this Project and their supported work experience students will help in building the Garden and will grow some of the plants we need to ensure an ongoing display.

We are asking local schools and youth groups to be involved with growing plants, making wire poppies and silver war badges.

We are also hoping to knit/crochet a display of 101 poppies for the number of years. 1914 -2015.(Garden opens)
