Sparks fly at Chedham’s Yard!

Chedham’s Yard, the BBC Restoration award-winning site in Wellesbourne, Warwickshire, opened to the public for the very first time on Saturday 16th June.

On the opening day visitors were taken back to the time when the Chedhams Family worked at the yard, and were treated to tours of the site by costumed guides and demonstrations by a blacksmith in the very place where the Chedhams would fashion tools and carry out repairs!

This well-preserved time capsule and former blacksmith's and wheelwright's workshop won the Restoration television programme in 2006 and has since been restored. A new oak visitor centre, including educational facilities and a cafe serving delicious locally made cake, has been built. The restoration of the site is thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the BBC Restoration Trust.

Chedham's Yard will be open to pre-booked visitors every Saturday over the summer until the end of October, so why not come along and see this charming and elusive site for yourself – you can even try your hand at putting a wheel together. There will also be plenty of activities for children including a quiz trail around the workshops and dressing up like a Victorian!

To book your place, please see the Booking Details below.
