Latest news - Learn how to survive in the wild at Chedhams Yard!

If you have always wanted to know how to survive in the wild then visit Chedham's Yard on Saturday 29 September. The BBC Restoration winning heritage attraction in Wellesbourne is hosting a special workshop introducing participants to a range of special skills.

Darren Unwin, who is experienced in botany, agriculture, land management and traditional rural skills, will show participants how to build a waterproof shelter and teach them where to find the natural materials to build it. Visitors will also be taught how to build and light a camp fire for warmth and also learn about cooking survival food. In particular, they will look at wild nettles, how to handle them safely and how they can be used as food, drink and to make string. The workshop has been specially designed to take into account the different levels of ability and the age range of those attending the workshop.

Emma Banks, Heritage Project Officer said: "Whatever your age, our bush craft workshop is a fun, informative and great day out for all the family. The group will learn some very useful skills which you never know when they might need!"

Tickets must be pre-booked via the website at www.chedhamsyard.org.uk or call 01789 842770 on Tuesday (1pm - 4pm) & Friday (10am - 1pm). Tickets cost £3.50 for an adult, £3.00 for concessions, £1.50 for a child and £9.50 for a family.
