Opening Events

16th June

Help us celebrate our opening! See demonstrations from a blacksmith and a wheelwright. Try out our children's activities and see the restored building and landscaped garden in its full glory!

 

Kite Making Workshop

23rd June

'Let's go fly a kite'! Get crafty making your very own simple kite. Suitable for all ages.

 

Bug Hunt

30th June

See different types of creepy crawlies you can find in your garden, insect based crafts and then go off to hunt for bugs!

 

Open Studios

7th July

View the work of three artists whose work turns old to new, respecting and reviving the past including Amanda Glanville, Glass bead maker, decorative ironwork from Birdy Blacksmiths, Phil Taylor Traditional signwriter and Ros Ingram's quirky ceramic fish.

 

Country Crafts Special Event

14th July

See country crafts live in action and have a go as some of the rural skills from the past!

 

Teddy Bears Picnic

21st July

Go on a hunt with our teddy trail & listen to some lovely teddy themed stories. Don't forget your picnic!

 

Festival of Archaeology Event

28th July

See our archaeology collection on display, take part in family activities and our very own mini dig!

 

 

Special Event: Victorian Life Special Event

4th August

 Try some of the jobs and household tasks that would keep Victorian people in Wellesbourne busy - from doing the washing to meeting the doctor.

 

Willow Weaving

11th August

Have a go at willow weaving with a trained professional!

 

 

Storytelling

18th August

Storytellers bring the site to life - spinning a tale or two about the Yard and its collections!

 

Busy Bees

25th August

Hear all about Bees with a talk and display from Warwickshire Beekeepers Association, there will also be honey tasting and bee crafts for families!

 

Harvest Special Event

1st September

Celebrate the harvest as Wellesbourne Victorians would have done with dancing, crafts and games.

 

Heritage Open Day

8th September

Go on our special restoration tour, handle objects from the collection and have a go at cleaning some of our artefacts! There will be a restoration themed family activity.

 

Spinning, Dying & Weaving

15th September

Try your hand at all things fabric. Watch a spinning demonstration, have a go at rag rugging and families can make a lovely textile collage.

 

Hedgerow Cooking

22nd September

Learn how to make the most of the hedgerow harvest with demonstrations and activities.

 

Bush craft

29th September

Learn how to survive in the wild including making dens and wild cooking.

 

Victorian Jobs

6th October

 Have a go at some of the jobs that people did in Victorian Wellesbourne. Talk to the Victorian doctor and try some gardening! Children's activities and trails.

 

Artefact Tour

13th October

Join our special volunteer led artefact tour picking out highlights from the collections and have a go at object handling and cleaning. There will be children's activities and crafts.

 

Apple Day

20th October

See an apple press at work, hear an apple talk and about the varieties in Chedham's Yard, there are apple activities for the kids and apple produce to buy!

 

Halloween Happening

27th October

Have a go at some 'spooky' pumpkin carving and scary activities!

 

Christmas Special Event

15th December

Welcome Christmas Victorian style including seasonal food (chestnuts from the forge) demonstrations from a blacksmith and activities for families.
