About the Yard

The Yard is in the centre of the village of Wellesbourne

Making the Most of Your Visit

The Yard has recreated the conditions of wheelmaking and blacksmithing the 19th and 20th centuries, using the original buildings. Access is available to the buildings but the floors are original and may be uneven.

Guided and/or audio visits are available. Large print information is available from the Ticket Office.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the site. Water bowls are available outside the Visitor Centre.

Public Transport

By bus: The X15 and X18 stop in Chestnut Square - a short walk to the site. These services stop at Stratford Upon Avon, Coventry, Leamington Spa & Wariwck. Please find information on timetables here

Cycling: We have an area on site where you can secure your bicycle.

By train: The nearest train station is Stratford Upon Avon which is approximately 6 miles away.

Parking and Admissions

There is no designated parking at the site and there is no vehicular access to the site along Church Walk, including blue badge holders.

Blue badge holders should be dropped off in Chestnut Square which is about 100m from the main entrance.

The main car parking areas are the Ettington Road spur (300m from the entrance - about 5 to 10 minutes) with overflow parking in the Sports and Social Centre Car Park off Loxley Close.

Admission Charges

There is an entry charge for the Yard.

Accessible Toilets

There are accessible toilets in the Visitor Centre.

Refreshments

Café - there is level access into this area from the main entrance serving hot and cold drinks and light refreshments.

Smoking

The Yard is a no smoking site. Smoking is not permitted in any buildings or anywhere within the boundaries of the site.

First Aid

Trained first aid staff are usually available at the Yard. Please seek assistance from any member of staff or go to the Visitor Centre.

Routes around the Yard

The route around the yard is along paths comprising brick paviors and cobbles, and is suitable for wheelchair users from the entrance gate to the Visitor Centre. Some of the buildings have original floors (for example stone) which are uneven.

Access to the Buildings

There is level access to all the buildings.

Clothing & Footwear

We advise you wear suitable clothing for visiting an outside site and sensible footwear for the uneven surfaces.
